The zoo closed in 1988 and is now home to Street Cats, a local non-profit, that spays and neuters the feral cat population in the area.
The Zoo at Nay Aug has played host to many animals. It was a destination for locals and travellers alike. Displays included elephants, monkeys, lions and tigers, baboons, alligators and peacocks. It included all kinds of exotic and domestic animals over the years. Scenes from the 1982 movie “That Championship Season” were filmed in the zoo.
